On October 12, 2026, police arrested businessman Thami Ndlala outside Randburg Magistrates’ Court after he attempted to flee, taking him into custody on intimidation and extortion charges connected to a dispute with model Blue Mbombo.
He was granted R10,000 bail the following day at Alexandra Magistrates’ Court, with his case postponed to November 20, 2026, for further investigation. The arrest capped a difficult stretch for Ndlala, whose property holdings were separately hit by municipal power disconnections over unpaid bills and whose name surfaced in testimony before South Africa’s Madlanga Commission regarding a hotel linked to his estranged wife, media personality Lerato Kganyago.
Thami Ndlala is a South African businessman and the founder of the Ndalayemandla Group of Companies, publicly known both for his business ventures spanning transportation, security and entertainment, and for his high-profile, on-again relationship with DJ and radio personality Lerato Kganyago.

Ndlala was born in 1980 in Mpumalanga, South Africa. He attended boarding school as a child and later enrolled in university to pursue a Bachelor of Science in International Business Studies, but dropped out to start a business in employee wellness.
After working in the corporate sector, Ndlala left to build his own business ventures, eventually founding the Ndalayemandla Group of Companies, an umbrella business with subsidiaries spanning recreation, education, transport, security and media and entertainment.
Among its ventures are Two Ndlala Brothers, a Gauteng-based luxury transportation company; Thami Ndala Holdings, a consultancy firm; and Adorantha Investments Limited, which provides health awareness and counseling services.
His property holdings have included Ndlala Dynasty, a Pretoria central business district accommodation facility, and Ndlala Mall in Arcadia, Pretoria, formerly known as Sterland Mall, which hosted a grand reopening event in August 2025 featuring American R&B artists Joe Thomas and Donell Jones. His net worth has not been officially disclosed.
He also founded the Joe Ndlala Foundation, named for his late father, which supports gifted children from disadvantaged backgrounds in accessing quality education.
Ndlala married South African DJ and media personality Lerato Kganyago in a traditional wedding ceremony in 2020 that surprised much of the public, many of whom had been unaware the two were in a relationship.
Roughly two months later, Kganyago announced on social media that the couple had separated, citing differences in priorities and busy schedules while saying they intended to remain friends, an explanation that drew public skepticism. The two later reconciled after Ndlala proposed again on her birthday.
In 2021, Kganyago revealed she was pregnant, but later experienced a miscarriage. As of recent reporting, Kganyago has been described as Ndlala’s estranged wife, though neither has publicly confirmed that a divorce has been finalized.
Ndlala has faced several legal controversies over the years, including a 2013 arrest connected to a vehicle purchase made under another man’s name, an extortion case involving a suspended Hawks officer, and allegations that he defrauded pensioners through a forex trading company; he has denied wrongdoing in these matters.
Most recently, model Blue Mbombo accused Ndlala of threatening, harassing and intimidating her, alleging he made death threats and hired people to intimidate her.
A civil protection order hearing brought by Mbombo was underway when, on October 12, 2026, police arrested Ndlala outside Randburg Magistrates’ Court on related intimidation and extortion charges after he attempted to flee.
Ndlala has denied the allegations and is reportedly pursuing a defamation lawsuit against Mbombo; separately, the Gauteng High Court had previously ordered Mbombo to remove social media posts accusing him of harassment.
He was granted R10,000 bail on October 13, 2026, with prosecutors noting he had no prior convictions or pending matters, and his case was postponed to November 20, 2026, for continued police investigation.
In January 2026, Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya announced that the city had disconnected electricity to Ndlala Dynasty, Ndlala’s Pretoria accommodation property, citing unpaid municipal bills reported at R2.3 million.
An earlier disconnection had previously hit Ndlala Mall over unpaid municipal arrears. City officials said they would continue disconnecting services at properties with outstanding accounts and no payment arrangements in place.
Ndlala’s name was also raised in testimony before South Africa’s Madlanga Commission, which heard evidence concerning Hillel Villa & Spa, a hotel reportedly gifted to Lerato Kganyago in 2022.
A South African Police Service detective testified that he had received an invitation, allegedly sent by Ndlala through a colleague, to a gathering at the hotel attended by several senior police officials, including Major-General Richard Shibiri.
The witness suggested the gathering may have been intended to influence investigations into criminal cartels operating in Gauteng; these remain allegations raised in testimony and have not been established as findings of fact.
