In June 2026, the sitcom Pepito Manaloto marked its 16th year on air with an on-screen vow renewal between its two lead characters, Elsa and Pepito.
For Manilyn Reynes, who has played Elsa since the show began, it was the latest milestone in a screen career that started more than four decades earlier, when she was cast as a child actor in Philippine cinema.
Manilyn Villamor Reynes, professionally known as Manilyn Reynes, is a Filipina actress, singer and television presenter.
She is best known for playing Elsa Manaloto on the long-running GMA Network sitcom Pepito Manaloto, and for a string of award-winning child and teen roles in Philippine film during the 1980s.

Reynes was born in Manila; her family relocated to Cebu City when she was only a few days old, and she was raised there. She began performing by joining a singing contest in Cebu as a child, before her family moved back to Manila.
She was launched as a child actor by Regal Films in To Mama with Love in the early 1980s, and her performance in Minsan, May Isang Ina (1983) earned her the FAMAS Award for Best Child Actress in 1984.
As a teenager, Reynes became one of the original members of the television variety show That’s Entertainment, one of the most influential Philippine youth variety programmes of its era, and built a parallel career as a recording artist.
Her 1988 single “Sayang na Sayang” received a Platinum certification from the Philippine Association of the Record Industry.
She went on to release numerous studio and compilation albums over her career, including a 2001 compilation, Story of Manilyn Reynes, on EMI Virgin Records, and held solo concerts at the Araneta Coliseum and Ultra Stadium in 1990, and at the Aliw Theater in 2007 to mark 25 years in the industry.
Reynes worked with GMA Network in the early 1990s before a period with other networks, hosting variety and drama anthology programmes including Dear Manilyn and Manilyn Live in the mid-1990s.
She returned to GMA Network in 2006, where she has remained a prominent, steadily working actress in the years since.

Reynes’s best-known and longest-running role began in 2010, when she was cast as Elsa Dela Cruz-Manaloto, the wife of the title character played by comedian Michael V., in the GMA Network sitcom Pepito Manaloto.
The show, about a family navigating sudden wealth after a lottery win, became one of Philippine television’s most durable comedies, running continuously, including through its spin-off Pepito Manaloto: Tuloy ang Kuwento, from 2010 into 2026.
Discussing her long run on the show with the Philippine Star, Reynes reflected on being recognised for excelling in both acting and singing, saying, “I would like to think so, I’m really thankful.”
Reynes married actor Aljon Jimenez, whom she met on the set of the variety show That’s Entertainment and later co-starred with in Shake, Rattle & Roll II, in Reno, Nevada, in 1996.
The couple have three sons. Jimenez stepped back from acting after their marriage and became Reynes’s talent manager, handling her contracts and bookings, an arrangement Reynes has credited with helping sustain her long career.
Alongside Pepito Manaloto, Reynes has taken on additional roles in recent years, including Minchie, a former girl-group singer turned family matriarch, in the GMA series Born to Shine.
She is also listed in production credits for the upcoming series Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre, in which she is set to play Mona, as well as the television film El Corazon de Oro.
