Regina Van Helvert Biography: TV3’s Ladies Circle, Sin City and Her April 2026 Wedding
Asked once whether it bothered her that she was yet to become a household name in Ghanaian entertainment, Regina Van Helvert said it wasn’t the measure she used for herself.
Since that interview, she has kept building a career across radio, television, film and production, and in April 2026 married her partner, known publicly as Dr Chris Kweku, in a pair of ceremonies that drew wide coverage from Ghanaian entertainment press.
Regina Van Helvert is a Ghanaian actress, television and radio presenter, and film producer. She is known for playing Tess in the 2019 film Sin City, for placing as a runner-up in the 2012 Miss Malaika pageant, and, more recently, for co-hosting TV3’s Ladies Circle.

Early Life and Education
Van Helvert was born and raised in Accra. She went on to study Business Administration, majoring in Marketing, at Ghana Telecom University College, an institution now known as the University of Professional Studies.
Miss Malaika and Early Media Career
Van Helvert’s entry into Ghana’s entertainment industry came through the 2012 Miss Malaika beauty pageant, where she placed as a runner-up; reports on the exact placing have varied between first and second runner-up.
The exposure led to broadcasting opportunities, and she went on to co-host Rhythmz and Unwind on GHOne TV. In 2015, she was named “Teen Choice Celebrity” at the Ghana Teen Choice Awards.
Acting Career
Van Helvert made her acting debut in the 2016 film In April. She went on to appear in The Honeymoon Trip in 2018, and had her best-known role the following year, playing Tess in Sin City (2019).
She has also worked as a producer, credited on the short films Jungle Justice and 3 Nights Ago. In 2022, she appeared in The Men We Love and The Next Marriage.
From GHOne TV to TV3
After her run on GHOne TV, Van Helvert moved to TV3, part of the Media General network, where she hosted the modelling programme Ghana’s Most Photogenic.
Discussing that role with YEN.com.gh, she said her focus was on showcasing the diversity of Ghanaian beauty and talent through the show.
She currently co-hosts TV3’s Ladies Circle. Reflecting on her broader approach to her career in an earlier interview with Graphic Showbiz, Van Helvert said, “I don’t live for accolades; I live for the impact of my work.”
The 2026 TGMA Red Carpet Moment
On May 9, 2026, Van Helvert co-hosted the red carpet of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) alongside Godwin Namboh.
During the broadcast, she asked actress Fella Makafui a question referencing her former marriage, saying, according to YEN.com.gh, “If your ex-husband saw you tonight, what do you think he’d say?”
The moment drew criticism from some social media users, who questioned the appropriateness of the question; Van Helvert responded to the backlash but did not withdraw the remark.
Marriage to Dr Chris Kweku
Van Helvert announced her engagement on Instagram on April 22, 2026, sharing a video with her partner, known publicly as Dr Chris Kweku, a medical practitioner who has largely kept his professional life private.
The couple held a traditional wedding ceremony in Accra on April 23, 2026, followed by a white wedding ceremony over the following two days, both widely covered by Ghanaian entertainment outlets including YEN.com.gh and Ghana Weekend.
