Taylor Danielle Spreitler is an American actress and former model best known for playing Mia McCormick on the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives, Lennox Scanlon on the ABC Family sitcom Melissa & Joey, and Kendra Gable on the CBS sitcom Kevin Can Wait.

Early Life

Spreitler was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, the daughter of Danny and Denise Spreitler. She spent her early years in Wiggins, Mississippi, before the family later moved to Amory, Mississippi.

According to Wikipedia’s sourcing from contemporary Mississippi newspaper coverage, she was already working as a child model and performer while still in the state; she moved to Los Angeles with her mother at age 11 to pursue acting full time, and was home-schooled from that point on.

Early Career and Modeling

Spreitler’s earliest professional work was as a model, and her first commercial booking was a national campaign for the pain reliever Motrin, followed by spots for Jif, Hess and Chuck E. Cheese.

She also sang, once performing during a pre-game show for the Liberty Bowl on ESPN. Her first acting credit came on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, in the episode “Pure,” playing Chloe Sellers; she later returned to the franchise in 2015 for the episode “Friending Emily.”

Days of Our Lives

In January 2009, Spreitler signed a three-year contract to play Mia McCormick on the NBC daytime drama Days of Our Lives, a storyline centered on a teenage pregnancy plot. Her final episode aired at the end of June 2010, after she was released from the contract early.

The role earned her a nomination for Best Performance in a Daytime TV Series by a Young Actress at the 32nd Young Artist Awards in 2011.

Melissa & Joey and Kevin Can Wait

Spreitler moved directly into primetime with Melissa & Joey, playing Lennox Scanlon, the niece of Melissa Joan Hart’s character, across the show’s run from 2010 to 2015.

In 2016, she joined the CBS sitcom Kevin Can Wait as Kendra Gable, the daughter of Kevin James’s character, appearing in 48 episodes through the show’s cancellation in 2018.

Film Work and a Guest-Star Run on Procedural Dramas

Alongside her television series work, Spreitler built a parallel career in film and in guest roles on procedural dramas.

Her film credits include the comedy 3 Day Test (2012), the action thriller The Contractor (2013), the drama Girl on the Edge (2015), and the horror sequels Amityville: The Awakening (2017) and Leprechaun Returns (2018), in which she played Lila.

Discussing how she landed the latter role in an interview with Daily Dead, Spreitler said she was offered the part while still filming Kevin Can Wait in New York and flew to South Africa for the shoot almost immediately after wrapping, saying “I couldn’t resist playing such a fun role.”

She also appeared in the FX comedy Casual in 2015 and had guest roles on Bones, as Courtney Hodsoll, and Criminal Minds, as Riley Desario.

Young Sheldon

From 2020 to 2023, Spreitler made four appearances on the CBS sitcom Young Sheldon as Sam, a college classmate assigned to a group project with the young Sheldon Cooper.

According to a character profile published by Looper, Sam’s storyline centered on her frustration at facing gender bias as a woman in theoretical physics in the show’s 1990s setting, and on the friendship she developed with Sheldon’s mother, Mary Cooper, over the course of her appearances. Spreitler also appeared in the 2020 television film Driven to the Edge, playing Tess.
